
The Hutchinson City Council will meet at city hall on Tuesday evening.
The Hutchinson City Council will hold public hearings during their meeting on Tuesday to consider the condemnation of ten structures deemed unsafe and dangerous across the city. The action marks the latest effort in Hutchinson’s ongoing work to address code violations, safety hazards, and neighborhood revitalization.
The properties under consideration include:
• 401 South Main Street
• 405 South Main Street
• 806 North Plum Street
• 22 West Fifth Avenue
• 211 East Fourth Avenue
• 2100 North Jackson Street
• 3001 East Fourth Avenue
• 1321 East Fourth Avenue
• 1221 East Fourth Avenue
• 411 South Main Street
Following the public hearings, the council will vote on resolutions to condemn each property. Some properties may be removed from this hearing depending on response from the property owners.
Also on the agenda are several other ordinances and resolutions. Among them:
Repeal of Truck Traffic Restriction: The council will discuss the repeal of city code 23-708, which had previously restricted truck traffic on Apple Lane.
Traffic and Offense Code Updates: Council members will also consider the approval of updated versions of the Standard Traffic Ordinance (52nd Edition) and the Uniform Public Offense Code (41st Edition) for Kansas cities, aligning Hutchinson’s code with state standards.
In new business:
KDOT Agreement: The council will consider an agreement with the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) to fund maintenance on state highways that run through the city.
Memorial Hall RFP: The council will discuss the RFPs that were submitted for Memorial Hall. City staff has suggested that the council reject the RFPs that were submitted.
The council meeting will meet at 5:30 p.m. in the council chambers in City Hall.
