⚾ Surge lose in Frisco Tuesday

Frisco, TX- The Wind Surge fell short to the Frisco RoughRiders 4-3 in extra innings on Tuesday night behind a walk-off RBI double from Blaine Crim in the tenth inning as the Surge dropped the series opener.

Frisco tied the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the ninth on a bases loaded RBI single from Aaron Zavala. Crim finished two for three with a walk and the game winning RBI in the tenth inning to give Frisco the 4-3 lead.

Austin Martin scored on a sacrifice fly-ball from Aaron Sabato in the third inning that tied the game 1-1. Martin finished the game with three stolen bases.

Frisco took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the third as Jonathan Ornelas hit an RBI single that scored Josh Stowers.

The Surge tied the game again in the fourth inning as Yunior Severino hit a sacrifice fly that allowed Alex Isola to score and even the game 2-2.

Brent Headrick made his fourth start on the mound for Wichita this season and was relieved by Andrew Cabezas in the fifth inning. Headrick pitched four innings, allowing two runs on four hits, and tallied eight strikeouts.

Wichita took the lead in the sixth inning behind an RBI single from Isola that scored Edouard Julien to give the Surge a 3-2 lead.

The Wind Surge remain in first place by six games with 23 games to play in the season.

The Wind Surge fell to 11-4 in extra inning games and are 19-17 in one run games. Martin is now 4th in the Texas League with 30 stolen bags… Isola extended his hit streak to 4 games… The Surge are now 11-10 in series openers this season.
