
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Community College men's basketball team saw its three-game winning streak come to an end Wednesday at the Sports Arena, falling to Dodge City 76-66.
The Blue Dragons closed the regular season with a 19-11 overall record and a 15-9 mark in the Jayhawk Conference.
Hutchinson earned the No. 4 seed in the Region VI Tournament and will receive a first-round bye. The Blue Dragons will play in the quarterfinals on Tuesday, March 11, at 7:30 p.m. at the Sports Arena, facing the winner of No. 5 Butler vs. No. 12 Pratt. Butler and Pratt will meet in El Dorado on Saturday.
Hutchinson trailed 40-27 at halftime but cut the deficit to two with under five minutes remaining. However, the Blue Dragons were unable to complete the comeback.
Dodge City (14-16, 11-13) won its fourth straight game, shooting 43% from the field and making seven 3-pointers.
Hutchinson struggled offensively, shooting 35% overall and hitting just 3 of 17 attempts from beyond the arc. Bo Aldridge led the Blue Dragons with a career-high 29 points, while DJ Dudley added 18 points and nine rebounds.
Jayse Boatwright paced Dodge City with 22 points. Mynor Strong contributed 19, and Derrick Rivers added 14.
