๐Ÿˆ Hutch High Salthawks uses solid ground game to win over Campus

HUTCHINSON, Kan.โ€”The Hutchinson Salthawks have thrown the ball more this season than most, but Friday night at Gowans Stadium they had to rely on their run game to pull away from Campus 28-7.

Nic Lange was 4 for 13 for 49 yards and an interception by way of the pass, but the Hutch High run game produced 326 yards on 47 plays with Senior Noah Khokhar rushing for 150 yard on 11 carries.

Campus Senior running back Remey Buckles kept the Salthawk defense busy with 99 yards on 28 carries as he had a busy night.  Jax Heneha, Hutch High's Junior defensive back let the Salthawks with 11 tackels, with 3 being for yards lost. Brayden Rodriguez and Dorian Hippen had 6 tackles each.

The Salthawks started the scoring with a Zion Burgess 1 yard run with 1:09 remaining to go in the 1st quarter. Taysen Runyon tacked on the point after for Hutch to lead 7-0 after 1.

With 8:08 remaining to go in the first half, Nic Lange connected with Kellen O'Sullivan from 18 yards out to go into the locker room with a 14-0 lead.

Zion Burgess scored his 2nd rushing touchdown of the night with a 3 yard burst of the middle with 3:15 to go in the 3rd quarter to allow Hutchinson to breathe a little and enjoy a 21-0 lead after 3 full quarters.

Noah KhoKhar put the game away on the first play of the 4th quarter with a 42 yard run which included some great blocking to pull away 28-0 with 11:53 remaining to go in the 4th.

Campus capped off a successful drive in the 4th with 3:07 remaining to make the final score 28-7.

Hutchinson (5-1) will travel to Maize (6-0) next Friday to match up against the Eagles in their last AVCTL Division 1 game of the year.  Maize is coming off an exciting 52-51 victory over Derby on Friday.

Campus (1-5) will host Newton on Friday,
