For the second-straight season, the Hutchinson Community College men's cross country team swept both team and individual championships at the season-opening Terry Masterson Twilight Classic.
With five finishers among the top six runners on Thursday night at Fun Valley, the Blue Dragons roared to the 11th-annual Masterson Twilight team title by 43 points. Leading the Blue Dragon push at the front of the pack was freshman Letsepa Prince Mudame, who won the individual championship by 25.27 seconds.
The Blue Dragons repeated as team champion and won their third overall Masterson Twilight title with 17 team points. The 17 points are a program low for the Masterson Twilight. The 2025 Blue Dragon scored 18 points. Kansas Wesleyan was second with 60 points and Dodge City was third with 79 points.
Mudame became the third Blue Dragon men's runner to win the Masterson Twilight individual championship. He joins Andrew Kibet (2018) and Cornelius Kogo (2025) as Masterson champions.
Mudame's winning time was 20:02.93, the 13th-fastest time over the Masterson Twilight 4-mile men's course in race history.
A pair of Hutchinson sophomores finished second and third, respectively.
Esteban Oses Campos was the men's runner-up with a time of 20:26.66. That time is 25th fastest in Masterson Twilight history and Campos cut 36 seconds off his freshman time in 2025.
Esteban Ortega placed third with a time of 20:28.32, trimming four full seconds off his freshman time.
Both Campos and Ortega earned second Masterson Twilight career Top 10 finishes.
Sophomore Carson Wetzel's Blue Dragon debut was a fifth-place finish with a time of 21:30.95.
Right behind Wetzel was freshman Gerald Kiprono, who had a time of 21:47.49.
Freshman Preston Hittle was the only other Dragon runner to compete on Thursday. Hittle placed 42nd with a time of 24:58.16.
The Blue Dragons will be off until early October when they compete at the University of Arkansas Chili Pepper Festival.
