HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Reno County residents will participate in a statewide campaign this weekend aimed at highlighting concerns about federal policies and reaffirming support for democracy and the rule of law.
The initiative, dubbed “Free State Days,” will feature rallies and demonstrations in more than a dozen Kansas cities April 26–27, including a local rally Saturday in Hutchinson’s Crescent Park, 17th and Main, from 2 to 3 p.m.
“This is a peaceful, non-partisan rally to remind our Kansas elected officials of our state’s legacy of commitment to freedom and justice,” said Steven Becker, a local organizer. “It’s important to stand up for our veterans, Kansas farmers, business owners, and federal workers who may be impacted by the government cuts that are happening without proper oversight. We support democracy and the rule of law.”

Other Kansas cities where events are being held in are include Arkansas City, Salina, Ottawa, Wichita, Lawrence, Manhattan, Roeland Park, Lenexa, Overland Park, and Kansas City, Kan.
Organizers say the events are meant to promote civic engagement and encourage Kansans to advocate for transparency and accountability in government decisions.
