Melvin Nisly, 93, died August 20, 2021, at his home. He was born January 29, 1928, on the family farm, rural Hutchinson, to Samuel A. and Delilah (Beiler) Nisly.

Melvin was a farmer and stockman and worked in the family butcher shop. He enjoyed fishing, working in the woodshop, and making miniature furniture. Melvin’s greatest enjoyment, though, was farming and his grandchildren.

On October 23, 1949, he married Fannie Yoder, in Hutchinson. She died September 2018, after sharing almost 69 years of marriage.

Melvin is survived by: children, Judith Stutzman (Perry) of Hutchinson, Joyce Bontrager (Steve) of Kokomo, IN, Cynthia Miller (Dale) of Plain City, OH, Titus Nisly (Marijane) of Hutchinson, and Janelle Nisly of Evansville, IN; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ellen Nisly of Hutchinson; and three brothers-in-law.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; three brothers; five sisters; and two granddaughters.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 23, 2021, at Center Amish Mennonite Church, 7611 West Morgan Ave., Hutchinson, with Pastors Dwight Miller and David Yoder officiating. Burial will follow in West Center Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. today, Sunday, August 22, 2021, at the church.
