LIBERAL – The Hutchinson Community College volleyball team earned its seventh road victory of the season Saturday afternoon to defeat the Seward County Saints 3-1 in a Jayhawk Conference matchup at the Green House.
The Blue Dragons rallied from late deficits in the three sets they won and defeated the Saints 28-26, 26-24, 17-25, 25-22 to even the season series with Seward County at 1-1.
Entering the final week of the 2025 regular season, the Blue Dragons improved to 14-15 overall and moved into a tie for sixth place in the KJCCC with Seward County at 7-7. Hutchinson will play host to Dodge City at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Sports Arena for Sophomore Recognition night.
Alondra Villanueva had five kills in the opening set to lead a Blue Dragon comeback from a 21-16 deficit. The Dragons used an 8-3 run to knot the set at 24, then fought off two Saints' set points and won the set 28-26. The Dragons rallied from a 21-18 deficit in the second set, outscoring Seward County 8-3 to win the set.
After Seward County dominated the third set, holding the Dragons to negative-.059 in the set, the Blue Dragons trailed 19-14 in the fourth set. Led by Jaylynn McNeill's six kills on .667 hitting and Atlyn Proctor's five kills on .333 hitting, the Blue Dragons closed the match with an 11-3 run.
Two Blue Dragons reached double figures in kills in a balanced attack for the Dragons against Seward County.
Villanueva had a team-high 15 kills on 48 attacks and posted her team-high 14th double-double of the season with 10 digs. Villanueva also had a service ace.
McNeill hit .370 for the match and finished with 14 kills on 27 attacks. Proctor had nine kills on .200 hitting. Freshman Mattie Galliher had eight kills on .270 hitting and a team-high four blocks.
Sophomore setter Angela Reupena had 23 assists and four digs. Freshman setter Alexandra Garcia had 23 assists and four digs.
Freshman libero Clara Oliveira finished with 20 digs, while freshman defensive specialist McKenzye Williamson had 10 digs and sophomore Priscilla Raschen had nine digs.
