Posting back-to-back double-doubles on opening weekend, Hutchinson Community College sophomore Bobby Cannon was named the Jayhawk Conference Division I men's basketball Player of the Week on Tuesday.
The 6-foot-9 forward from Winston-Salem, North Carolina, exploded in two games at the State Fair Classic last weekend in Sedalia, Missouri, leading the Blue Dragons to two impressive victories.
On Friday against Classic host State Fair, Cannon had 22 points and a career-high 14 rebounds in a 78-71 victory over the Roadrunners.
He then hit a career-high five 3-pointers in a 29-point, 14-rebound game in a 94-64 win over NEO on Saturday. Cannon added five assists, also a career best in the victory over the Golden Norse.
For the week, Cannon averaged 25.5 points and 14.0 rebounds per game. Cannon shot 57.1 percent from the floor.
