
RICE COUNTY —Two people were injured in an accident just after 9a.m. Thursday in Rice County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2022 Ram 1500 driven by Layne A. Vaughan-Meier, 18, Lorraine, was southbound on 10th Road at Kansas 4 Highway four and one half miles east of Bushton. The driver missed the stop sign. The pickup struck struck the side of an eastbound 2025 Ford F250 driven by Gregory S. Akers, 68, Akers. After impact the Ford came toa rest in the south ditch, facing northeast.
EMS transported Vaughan-Meier and a passenger in the Ram Russell W. Lane, 18, Lorraine to Ellsworth County Medical Center. Akers and a passenger in the Ford were not injured. All four were properly restrained, according to the KHP.
