
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The annual United Way community work day is Saturday. They have over 500 volunteers helping with 30 projects throughout Reno County this year. They will paint houses for Brush Up Hutch, clean up Carey Park, work at the Boys and Girls Club, The Salvation Army, and Head Start, among other projects. The annual breakfast is at DCI Park at 7 a.m. Projects will kick off by 8:30 a.m.
The annual fundraising campaign kickoff is coming up Monday. There will be food trucks at the library from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. with Val’s Berry Bowl and Las Mariachi and music from Justin Riggs. Then at 30th and Plum from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. will be food trucks Las Mariachi, Salt City Chiller and Fire Pit Pizza with music from Sarah and Danny Nowlan. The vendors selling their products will give a portion of the proceeds to the United Way campaign.
Envista Credit Union will also be present at 5:30 p.m. Monday to announce that United Way will be their EnvistaCares Challenge recipient for September. The campaign goal is $1.2 million.
