HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Fire Department dealt with a significant fire incident at 2404 E 4th Avenue on Tuesday morning, Aug. 6, 2024. In response to the situation, all available fire apparatus in Hutchinson were mobilized to effectively manage and contain the fire.

In addition to the Hutchinson Fire Department, mutual aid has been provided by Pretty Prairie, District 3, Buhler, District 8, and South Hutchinson. Newton and McPherson helped run additional calls while the incident continued.

The fire has been extinguished and will be monitored for 24 hours for hot spots. All mutual aid has been released. Two firefighters were treated for dehydration and released.
Heavy equipment from the Department of Public Works assisted alongside an F500 foam trailer provided by Colwich, to aid in the firefighting efforts.
Due to the intensity of the fire and high temperatures, fire crews rotated every 20 minutes to ensure proper rehabilitation and hydration.
Fourth was closed from Halstead to Chemical until 8 p.m. Tuesday. The cause of the fire has not yet been released.
