🏀 Salthawks sweep Salina South Tuesday

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutch High Salthawk basketball teams overcame slow starts to win over Salina South Tuesday night at the Salthawk Activity Center.

In the girls contest, Hutchinson trailed 10-1 after one quarter before bouncing back to lead 21-16 at the break 36-24 after three and win 44-28.

The Salthawks were paced by Grace Posch's 14 points, Josie McLean added 13. Salina South did not have any double figure scorers in the girls game.

On the boys side, it didn't take the Salthawks an entire quarter to get going, but they did lead by only six after one 16-10, then got the game sped up even more, especially right before halftime and led 36-21 at the break, stretched the game out to 59-34 after three and finished with a running clock in an 80-39 triumph.

The Salthawks had four in double figures, led by Terrell King's 12 points, Garrett Robertson had 11 and Dauntay King and Jay Lewis had ten each.

Salina South was paced by Jace Humphrey's 14 points, Layson Sajdak added 10 in the loss.

Hutchinson improves to 3-0 for both squads and visits Goddard on Friday night. The 3-0 start for the boys is the first time since the 2003-2004 season.
