Shirley Ione Hurst, 86, died January 9, 2021, at Diversicare, Hutchinson. She was born January 15, 1934, in rural Plevna, to Scott Newton and Asta Pearl (Havercroft) Davidson.
Shirley graduated from Plevna High School in 1952. She worked as a secretary for Boeing and the Hutchinson Correctional Facility. Shirley was a church pianist for many years, enjoyed her flowers, traveling, and helping her husband, Keith, on the farm. Shirley was a lifelong member of the Methodist church, and most recently, attended Pleasant Hill Church of the Nazarene, Sylvia.
On April 24, 1955, she married Wavern “Bud” Coffman, in Huntsville. He died April 5, 1993. On July 10, 1998, she married Keith Hurst, in Sylvia. They shared almost 23 years of marriage.
Shirley is survived by husband, Keith of Sylvia; his sons, Ted Hurst of Clyde, NC, and Brian Hurst and wife Evelyn of Bradenton, FL; grandsons, Kiefer Hurst of Denver, CO and Brandon Hurst of Orlando, FL; and sisters-in-law, Marilyn Hurst of Sylvia and Helen Hurst of Topeka.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers-in-law, Jim Hurst of Sylvia and Glen Hurst of Topeka; and one sister-in-law, Marjorie Herrman of Hutchinson.
Graveside service will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5905 W. 4th, Hutchinson, with The Reverend James Davis officiating. Friends may sign the book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday through Monday at Elliott Mortuary.
