Melody Fern Harrington, 77, passed away on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, in Newton. She was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Orel Madeline and Frederick Walsh Piepho. She was a graduate of Brownsville High School. After graduation she obtained and worked numerous Food Management positions, was a substitute Teacher, CMA with New Horizons in Valley Center, and finally retired from Raytheon Aircraft in Wichita.
Melody loved spending time with her family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She enjoyed playing cards and other various games. She also loved spending time outside doing yardwork and her Country Geese.
She was preceded in death by her parents Orel Madeline and Frederick Walsh Piepho, husband James Edward Harrington, brothers Lawrence James, Frances Maynard and Dennis, and her sister Catherine Poor.
Melody is survived by her children Edward Harrington, Timothy Harrington (Retchiel), John Harrington (Tammi) and Michelle Rice (Curtis); grandchildren Michael Dufrene, Jamie Strait (Kendall), Clint Naquin, Faith Harrington, Brittany Burkett (Jason), Krystal Harrington, Derrick Harrington, Aliza Harrington, Thomas Harrington, James Harrington (Harley), Cassady Chock, Francesca Floyd (Ashley), Erin O’Connell, Curtis Rice Jr. (Hannah), Cheyenne Rice (Hiawatha), Nichole Berg (Blake), Donovan Harrington, Caitlynn Rice, Cimara Rice; great grandchildren Micheal Dufrene Jr., Noah Dufrene, Hailey Haeussler, Nicholette Ramsey, Ashton Ramsey, Tyler Naquin, Clint Naquin Jr., Alyssa Naquin, Mariah Gourley (Tanner), Brian Newlin, Jazzmyn Strait, Kynlee Strait, Braxyn Le, Hiawatha Scott Jr., Landan Scott, Harlem Scott, Harlow Scott, Honor Scott, Sebastian Capps Jr., Relynn Berg, Rylie Berg; sisters Shirley Hensley (Jim), and Elizabeth Piepho; aunt Vera Hauge; nieces Jean Beckwith, Janis Adams; in-law Sally Piepho; numerous other family members.
