HUTCHINSON, Kan. — If you're headed out to do some last-minute holiday shopping, the Reno County Food Bank could use some donations.

They are very low on canned milk, canned fruits, soups and peanut butter.

Penny Taapken has 36 families coming in today before Thanksgiving and they also have some homeless appointments as well. The need is just more in Reno County more than previous years.

Other items that will be accepted include cereal, pasta sauces, any canned veggies, and fruit juices (canned or bottled).

Homeless people can pick up to-go bags and they often need things like: beef jerky, cans of food with pop tops to be able to eat them on the go, and individual small bottles of liquids like water, juices, Gatorade, etc.

The back of the food bank has volunteers there until 3:30 p.m. Wednesday to take in food and people can drop off now until then, but they will be closed tomorrow and Friday.
