HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Just after 1 p.m. Sunday, Hutchinson firefighters were called to 4901 North Monroe on the report of a house fire.
The fire was put out in the room of origin and no one was hurt. It took 2700 feet of 5 inch hose to get from a hydrant to the home.
Fire crews were rotated through due to the heat. They made sure firefighters had water and that their temperature was not too elevated.
The firefighters wear approximately an additional 70 pounds of protective gear, which makes it exceedingly hard on them physically in the heat.
