Louwanna Bastin, 70, passed away November 8, 2021, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born January 31, 1951, in Harlan, KY.

“He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.” Revelation 21:4

On July 26, 1980, Louwanna married William Theodore Bastin, in Aroma Park, IL. They shared over twenty years of marriage, prior to his death on March 14, 2001.

Louwanna had a very kind and generous soul and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her home cooking, her laugh, and her loving heart, welcomed others into her home. Louwanna enjoyed fishing, diamond art projects, feeding the geese, making huge family meals, and loved spending time with her family. There is no greater gift in this life than to love and to be loved. She was a loving wife, mother, ‘Mema’, and ‘GGMa’, who loved with all her heart. Louwanna’s greatest joy was knowing that her family loved her just as much.

She is survived by: children, Lisa (Robert) Borntrager of Hutchinson, Katrina (Aaron) Johnson of Lawrence, Ciara Bastin of Hutchinson, and Chris (Carrie) Hendricks of Wichita; grandchildren, C.J. (fiancéé Alli Emery) Hendricks, Lyndsie Hendricks, Rian Borntrager, Lauryn Borntrager, Mckinzie Johnson, Alanna Maley, Caylee Bastin, Tiffany Hendricks, Colton Jaehde, Dominick Hendricks, Skyleigh Hendricks, Aspyn Hendricks, and Christopher Hendricks, Jr.; great-granddaughter, Adelynn Grace Borntrager; siblings, James (Sandy) Barnett and Sandy (Rick) Cross; and sister-in-law, Wendy (Rick) Viles.

Louwanna was preceded in death by her husband, William Theodore Bastin.

“Honor her for all that her hands have done” Proverbs 31:31

We are a family bound together by love and faith. We know she is at peace and that we will see her again. Louwanna’s smile will live on in the hearts of her beloved family for many years to come.

Graveside service will be held at a future date at the Fort Scott National Cemetery, Fort Scott.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Louwanna Bastin Memorial Fund, in care of Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
