HUTCHINSON, Kan. - The Hutchinson Monarchs jumped on the undefeated Derby Twins in the first two innings Friday night by putting up four runs In each inning before Derby responded with a five run third.
Then Derby opened the top of eighth with five runs to close the gap before the Monarchs left fielder Jaden Gustafson knocked in two runs to help lead the Monarchs to a 15-11 victory and their third win in a row after starting the season last week 0-2.
Hutch pounded out 16 hits while only committing one error in the contest.
Hutch was led by Sam Wiese's four RBI's followed by Gustafson's three RBI night.
Brayden Luikart led the Twins with a three hit night and three RBI's.
Same two teams will match up again tonight in Derby. Next Monarch home game is Sunday verses the Great Bend Bat Cats at Hobart-Detter Field in Carey Park with first pitch at 6pm.
