Vernon C. Martin Sr., 88, of Hutchinson, died October 25, 2020, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born November 8, 1931, in Hutchinson, to Leonard and Hazel (Roher) Martin.

Vernon graduated from Central High School in 1950. He served in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1955, serving in the Korean War. Vernon was a Class A Mechanic and worked for Morton Salt for 30 years. He belonged to the VFW Post 906 as a Lifetime Member, American Legion Lysle Rishel Post 68, Moose Lodge 982, Confectionary Union, and the United Steel Workers Union.

On May 2, 1955, Vernon married Seville Anna Irwin, in Omaha, Nebraska. They shared 65 years of marriage together.

He is survived by wife, Seville Martin, sons, Vernon Martin Jr. and Randall Martin, all of Hutchinson; six grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

Vernon was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Brenda Martin; and brothers, Glenn and Gregg Martin.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 4, 2020, at Elliott Mortuary. Military honors will be conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, at Elliott Mortuary.
