HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A Hutchinson man is in custody on suspicion of pulling a gun on an officer who was investigating a single vehicle accident.

Police say 45-year-old James Walker was taken into custody after surrendering to law enforcement without incident.

Police report that at around 9:18 p.m. Thursday they were dispatched to a single vehicle accident and found a pickup laying on its side in the ditch. The vehicle was unoccupied. Law enforcement went to Walker's residence at the Creeekside Village trailer park and made several attempts to contact Walker.

As an officer was standing in front of the trailer the door opened and the officer noticed the muzzle of a gun pointing outside. The officer took cover and after several verbal commands got Walker to surrender.

Walker is being held on suspicion of aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer and leaving the scene of an accident. His bond has been set at $7,750.
