GEARY COUNTY—Authorities are working to determine the cause of a fire at Kansas home.
Just after 2 a.m. Tuesday, fire crews responded to a home at 6900 Old Milford Road three miles northwest of Junction City according to Geary County Rural Fire Chief Garry Berges.
Upon arrival crews found the home fully engulfed in flames. "The 84-year-old resident had an alarm going off, smelled smoke and was able to see some flames, according to Berges. She escaped unharmed.
The home is a total loss, according to Berges.
Geary County responded with four truck, 15 firefighters and due to the extreme cold and limited water supply Fort Riley responded with a pumper and a tanker unit to assist.
