In August 2025, after a long career with a large corporation, Luke Faidley’s position was eliminated during company restructuring. The timing quickly turned into opportunity. The very next day, Luke and his wife, Sparkle, learned that the liquor store in their hometown was for sale. They moved quickly, and soon after, Smokehouse Liquor Co. opened its doors.
Rooted in Burrton
Luke and Sparkle were both born and raised in Burrton and are proud graduates of Burrton schools. In 2020, Sparkle opened Red Shed Salon in downtown Burrton, which has since become a local staple. With Smokehouse Liquor Co., the couple continues to invest in their hometown, building a business rooted in community, quality products, and local pride.
More Than a Liquor Store
Open Sundays from noon to 6 p.m., Smokehouse Liquor Co. places a strong emphasis on Kansas-made products and a welcoming, small-town atmosphere. The store features:
- Local beef from Haven, Kansas, processed at Krehbiels Specialty Meats in McPherson
- LMNO Pizza from Mount Hope
- A variety of locally sourced snacks and treats
- Tobacco products, including a growing premium cigar selection in partnership with Hutch Humidor in Hutchinson
The owners note the tobacco section continues to expand and appreciate customers’ patience as new offerings are added.
Sunday Fundays at Smokehouse
On select Sundays, food trucks stop by the store, adding to the experience. Visitors may also have opportunities to sample Kansas-made spirits and visit directly with distillers and brewers. For weddings and large events, Smokehouse Liquor Co. offers wholesale pricing to help customers stock up affordably.
