KANSAS CITY, Mo.-Led by No. 3 Texas, four Big 12 teams received preseason recognition in the AP Top 25 poll, in advance of the start of the women’s basketball season on November 7.
The Longhorns check in at No. 3 after a 29-7 campaign in 2021-22 that saw the program capture the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship title and advance to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament.
Iowa State follows at No. 8, giving the Big 12 two teams in the top 10. The Cyclones, who are preseason favorites to win the Big 12, went 28-7 a year ago, advancing to the NCAA Sweet 16.

Oklahoma enters the poll at No. 15, building off a 25-9 season that saw the Sooners host the First- and Second Rounds of the NCAA Tournament at the Lloyd Noble Center.

Despite losing a pair of top-10 selections in the WNBA Draft, Baylor checks in at No. 18 in the initial poll. The Bears, who rallied from a 0-2 start to capture the Big 12 regular season title, went 28-7 in 2021-22, and advanced to the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament.
Two Big 12 schools received votes in the preseason poll, with 2022 NCAA Tournament participants Kansas and Kansas State earning mention.
