Anna Laura Johnson, 89, was born November 9, 1931, in Windom, Kansas. She was the fifth of seven children born to John S. And Helen (Regier) Pauls. She passed away December 21, 2020, at Bethany Home in Lindsborg, Kansas, where she had lived the last ten years of her life.

She attended Windom and Turkey Creek schools as a child, and graduated from McPherson High School in 1959, at the age of 28, due to a battle with polio that kept her out of school for several years.

She married Everett Johnson on July 15, 1962. They met on a blind date and were married for 58 years.  To this union were born two children: Randi Jean and Jane Ann.

Anna worked at the McPherson Courthouse for several years and retired from Bethany Home after 18 years of service there. She later moved into Bethany Home in 2011 as a resident.

Anna loved playing her harmonica and Chinese Checkers and her cats. She enjoyed singing old hymns. Some of her favorites were “Honey in the Rock,” “Lily of the Valley,” and “Bringing in the Sheaves.”

She was preceded in death by her parents and all her siblings, Verdalee Francz, Irene Pauls, Nelda Becker, Elvina Pauls, Harvey Pauls, and Virginia Rahn.

She is survived by her husband, Everett, her two daughters, Randi Gifford and Jane Yount (husband Greg), four grandchildren: Lisa (husband Damon) Sewell, Matthew, Joshua, and Andrea Yount, as well as two great grandchildren, Elijah and Lilyanna Sewell.

Anna loved Jesus and is in Heaven with Him now. She will be deeply missed.

The family would like to thank Bethany Home and Kindred Hospice for their exceptional and loving care for Anna to the day of her death.

Private family services will be held.  Memorials may be given to Kansas Bible Camp or Bethany Home in loving memory of Anna, in care of Olson’s Mortuary, PO Box 355, Canton, KS 67428.
