Co. Commission to take action on courthouse repairs

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Reno County Commissioners will discuss and take possible action on major repairs to the courthouse during Tuesday’s agenda session. The recent earthquakes in the area caused some structural damage to the historic building.

The weatherization and earthquake repairs carry an estimated cost of $1.8-million. The courthouse was also undergoing a complete window restoration project at the time the pandemic hit shutting down the project before it could start. The window restoration carries an estimated price tag of $1.6-million bringing the total project costs to $3.4-million.

The Board will take action on an engineering and design contract with GLMV Architectural of Wichita at a cost of $213-thosuand for both projects. Most of that cost will be paid for through insurance.

Tuesday’s meeting of the Reno County Commission begins at 9 a.m. at the Reno County Courthouse.
