KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Chiefs are extending their long-term commitment to quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

The Chiefs are adding two years to Mahomes’ contract, tying the three-time Super Bowl champion to Kansas City through the 2033 season, according to multiple reports.

Mahomes originally signed a 10-year contract extension with Kansas City in July 2020 that was valued at up to $503 million, including incentive and guarantee mechanisms. The deal, which extended through the 2031 season, was the first contract in NFL history valued at more than $500 million.

The Chiefs reworked Mahomes’ contract in September 2023 to move money forward from later years. Kansas City also restructured the deal earlier this offseason, converting $54.45 million of Mahomes’ 2026 salary into a bonus and opening approximately $43.56 million in salary-cap space.

Mahomes is entering his 10th season with the Chiefs and his ninth as the team’s starting quarterback. Kansas City selected the former Texas Tech standout with the No. 10 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.

Mahomes has led the Chiefs to three Super Bowl victories and has earned three Super Bowl MVP awards. He has also been named the NFL’s Most Valuable Player twice.
