Wichita State head men's basketball coach Paul Mills' first recruiting class has its first official members with the signing of transfers Jacob Germany and Harlond Beverly to financial aid agreements.

The 6-foot-11 Germany is a graduate transfer who has played the past four years at UTSA, earning honorable mention All-Conference USA honors in each of the last two. The lofty lefty from Kingston, Okla. ranks among the school's career leaders in points (9th, 1,293), rebounds (4th, 779) and blocks (t-3rd, 105). He averaged 12.3 points during the 2022-23 season and ranked second on league leaderboard in both rebounding (8.3) and double-doubles (9).

Mills said:

"Jacob was an all-conference player last season in a tough Conference USA. He was one of the top rebounders in the country, and I'm confident that this skill will translate to the AAC. Jacob is unique for a guy his size due to his ability to make plays off the bounce in space. He handles the ball well and can finish around the basket with either hand. I've watched Jacob develop since he was a high school player and I've always been impressed with his improvement year after year. I know Jacob will add value to this team through his leadership, unique skill set and rebounding capabilities."

Beverly is a 6-6 wing who is less than two weeks removed from a Final Four appearance with Miami. The Detroit native played the past four seasons for the Hurricane but could have up to two more years of eligibility at WSU due to his COVID-19 bonus and a pending medical redshirt waiver. A consensus four-star, top-70 recruit out of Florida-based Montverde Academy, Beverly averaged 5.3 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 91 career games at Miami.

Mills said:

"Harlond is a gifted player and a tremendous leader. He is an elite finisher, as demonstrated by his 67% two-point field goal percentage against tough ACC competition, and he gets to the free throw line at a remarkable rate. However, the area where Shocker fans will see his abilities shine through the most is on the defensive end. He's a versatile guy who can guard multiple positions and he has an intense desire to compete. He impacts the game in so many ways through his effort and rebounding. I'm looking forward to having Harlond as a member of our team and I'm confident he will make contributions as both a person and a player at Wichita State."
