Hutchinson, Kan. - The Hutchinson Monarchs had 2 big innings on Monday night by scoring 9 runs in the bottom of the 4th and then 4 runs in the bottom of the 8th to hang on to sweep the Newton Rebels 13-10 at Hobart-Detter Field in Carey Park.

With the win, the 2020 version of the Hutchinson Monarchs ties the 2012 club with the best start in club history at 9-1.

The Monarchs had to use six pitches to finally shut the door on the Rebels who had the bases loaded in the top of the 9th after relief pitcher Bryson Lucas gave up 4 walks in the inning.  Dylan Nedved came in to pitch to get the 3rd out on a strike out to get the save.  Treyton Randall got the win in relief.  It was his 2nd win of the season.  Zack Gillig took the loss for the Rebels.

Clayton Chadwick was the hitting hero on the night with a ground rule double plus a line drive shot off the right field fence late in the contest.  He was 3 for 4 on the night.  Chadwick's speed is going to be a factor in the future as he showed he could run the bases effectively.  Also having multiple hit games were the following Monarchs:  Anthony Macenzie went 2 for 5, Taylor Barber was 3 for 4 with 3 RBI's including a huge double in the bottom of the 8th to give the Monarch the lead.  Austin Callahan was 2 for 4 and Brayden Whitchurch was also 2 for 5.

The Monarchs begin a 4 game series with the Rose Hill Sluggers at Rose Hill for the first two games this Tuesday and Wednesday before returning home for games at Hobart-Detter field on Thursday and Friday.  Friday's game will be broadcast on Hutchpost.com
