Sheriff: Kan. felon was driving with weapons and meth

JACKSON COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas man on multiple charges after a traffic stop.

On April 6, sheriff's deputies stopped a vehicle for an alleged registration violation east of U.S. Highway 75 on 126th Road, according to Sheriff Tim Morse.

Further investigation in the traffic stop led to the discovery of suspected illicit items in the vehicle.

Deputies arrested the driver, Kevin Lamont Hayes, 33, of Topeka and booked him into the Jackson County Jail on on requested charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, criminal carrying of weapons, driving with no license and no insurance.
