HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The HutchCC Career Fair at the Sports Arena on Thursday was a great success.
"We had 550 job seekers," said DJ Chastain with HutchCC. "Students, community members, anybody from the surrounding area. They come from all over, basically. We had 153 employers represented there. The Sports Arena was basically full clear down the hallways and clear through the gym."
Feedback Chastain received was outstanding, though they haven't broken down the data yet.
"We usually average about 130 to 135 employers," Chastain said. "We had 153 and then we had a waiting list of about 15 left. We reevaluated the gym, as well and we think next year we can get 170 employers next."
Unlike other area job fairs, this one is free for everyone.
"How many people get jobs, that will be hard to convert right now, just because there's not someone that's going, this person took this job and then they reported back," Chastain said. "In the future, that's what we want."
The hope is to get more specific numbers as attendee surveys are counted over the next few days.
