
MCPHERSON COUNTY, Kan. — One person died in a house fire in McPherson County Sunday.
According to the McPherson County Sheriff's Office, just after 6 p.m. deputies with the McPherson County Sheriff's Office along with the Inman Fire Department, McPherson Fire Department, and McPherson EMS responded to a residential structure fire in the 1000 block of 9th Avenue in rural McPherson County, Kansas.
Upon deputies arriving at the fire, they entered the residence and began searching for the occupant, who was reported to still be inside the residence. Due to the intensity of the fire, deputies had to back out of the house. Inman Fire and McPherson Fire were able to get the fire contained and the homeowner was located deceased inside of the residence.
The Kansas State Fire Marshal’s Office was requested to the scene to investigate the cause of the fire. The preliminary investigation determined the fire was accidental and caused by faulty electrical equipment.
