HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Auditions for Talking Tombstones, Stage 9's fall tradition, have been scheduled for August 14th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
"We have to do the research ahead of time," said Lynsey Becher with Stage 9. "It's a lot of work getting these people researched and writing monologues for them. We write them first and we know who we're going to do and then we have to fit people into the mold."
2021 Characters for Talking Tombstones:
Avriel (Ace) Starks Keefer
Ben Blanchard
Esther Richardson
Laura Reed Yaggy
Maurice Wickendoll
William Bruce
Aneta Corsaut
This is the 15th year for Talking Tombstones. Stage 9 is planning to add more to the weekend, as well.
"This year, we're actually adding a whole other event called If Walls Could Talk," Becher said. "On October 23rd, on Saturday, we'll have our regular Talking Tombstones out at Eastside Cemetery. On Friday, the 22nd of October, we're actually going to have a downtown walking tour. Instead of people, it's actually going to be historic buildings of downtown. It will be a whole Hutchinson historical weekend."
Interested actors who cannot attend the auditions during these times, please contact Lynsey Becher at [email protected] or call 620-200-6012 to make alternate arrangements. Auditions will consist of staged readings. You are welcome to perform a prepared monologue. All interested actors should bring their schedules and conflicts to let the director know when they are available to rehearse. If actors have previous acting experience, they may choose to bring a headshot, resume and/or experiences to share with the director.
