Driver hospitalized after Kan. police chase, head-on crash

FRANKLIN COUNTY —One person was injured in an accident just before 7:30p.m. Saturday in Franklin County.

Johnson and Franklin County authorities reported a 2002 Cadillac with an erratic driver was southbound on Interstate Interstate 35 just north of the K131 Waverly exit, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

Franklin County deputies observed the vehicle and attempted to make a traffic stop.

The driver later identified as Joshua Philbrook, 31, Turner, Maine, lead deputies on a pursuit. The vehicle crossed the median and struck a concrete bridge barrier head-on.

EMS transported Philbrook Overland Park Regional Medical Center. He was not wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP.
