🏀 Free throws fuel Dragons to win over Broncbusters

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Community College men's basketball team ended a brief two-game skid with an 83-78 win over Garden City on Wednesday at the Sports Arena.

Hutchinson (7-5, 3-3 KJCCC) led by as many as 13 points in the first half and held a 36-26 lead at halftime.

Garden City (6-6, 2-5) went on an 11-0 run to take a 45-44 lead with 13:21 to play in the second half for its first lead of the night. 

The Broncbusters pulled within 79-76 with 32.5 seconds to play, but the Blue Dragons knocked down free throws when it mattered, going 26 of 28 for the game.

D.J. Dudley and Jaquez Thornton each had 21 points to lead the scoring for HutchCC. Bo Aldridge finished with 18 points in the win, 16 of which came in the second half. Isaiah Jackson was big for the Blue Dragons in the paint, scoring 14 points.

Garden City was led by Antonio Chol with 27 points, playing all 40 minutes. 

Bobby Cannon finished with just two points for Hutchinson, but made his presence on the defensive end, recording 12 rebounds and two blocked shots, including a huge one late in the game on a 3-point attempt by the Broncbusters.

Hutchinson will travel to Concordia on Saturday to face Cloud County (9-4, 3-4) with tipoff scheduled for 4 p.m. from Arley Bryant Gymnasium.
