HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Former Hutchinson Community College Blue Dragon football All-American Alvin Kamara was listed at No. 42 in the NFL's Top 100 list for the 2020 season.
Entering his fourth season with the New Orleans Saints, this is Kamara's third appearance on the Top 100 list in his short but dynamic career.
Selected by the Saints in the third round (67th overall pick) of the 2017 NFL Draft, Kamara played in 14 games last season with nine starts and totaled 171 carries for a team-high 797 yards and five rushing touchdowns. He also had 81 receptions for 533 yards and one touchdown for 1,339 total yards from scrimmage, as he became only the second Saint with three-straight seasons of at least 1,300 total yards from scrimmage.
Kamara is the only Saints' running back named to the Pro Bowl three times. Kamara was hampered by a series of injuries last season.
Kamara has rushed for 2,408 yards (5.13 yards per carry) and 27 rushing touchdowns. He had added 243 receptions for 2,068 yards and 10 receiving touchdowns.
Kamara became the 17th Blue Dragon running back to reach 1,000 yards in 2014.
Kamara finished 10th on the HutchCC single-season rushing list with 1,211 yards on 172 carries. He averaged 7.0 yards per carry, which ranked second in team history. With 21 total touchdowns, Kamara tied for second place on Hutchinson's single-season list. His 126 points are also tied for second place with Mack Herron.
Kamara had a streak of seven-straight 100-yard rushing games snapped vs. Highland. He had eight 100-yard rushing games, including a career-high 220 yards against Coffeyville on Oct. 4.
In addition to being named a 2014 NJCAA first-team All-American, Kamara was also named the 2014 Jayhawk Conference Offensive Player of the Year.
Kamara went into Tennessee after his one season with the Blue Dragons. He earned all-SEC honors in 2016 with the Volunteers.
