
GREAT BEND, Kan. — The Hutchinson Community College women's basketball team kept its unbeaten season alive following an 83-65 win over Redlands Community College on Saturday afternoon.
Hutchinson (5-0) finished the Barton Classic with back-to-back wins over Labette (106-33) on Friday and Redlands on Saturday.
Topeka native Kiki Smith finished the game with a career-high 28 points on 10-of-15 shooting. Smith also knocked down 6-of-7 free throws and dished off a team-high four assists.
Journey Armstead (12 pts, 4 reb), Hailey Jackson (12 pts, 7 reb) and Monae Duffy (11 pts, 7 reb) all finished in double-figures for the Blue Dragons, joining Smith.
The Blue Dragons trailed by as many as five in the first quarter, but rallied to lead after the opening frame, 21-20. Hutchinson then led 43-35 at halftime and then 60-49 after three quarters.
Redlands was led by Ashlyn Evans-Thompson with 19 points, one of four Cougars to score in double figures.
Hutchinson will open Jayhawk Conference play on Saturday at Dodge City with tipoff scheduled for 1 p.m.
