Saturday's regular-season finale for the Hutchinson Community College football team has plenty riding on it.

The top-ranked Blue Dragons (9-0, 5-0 KJCCC) will play host to the No. 14-ranked Garden City Broncbusters (6-4, 3-2 KJCCC) at Noon Saturday at Gowans Stadium.

The game will be broadcast live on Blue Dragon flagship station KHUT-FM (102.9) beginning at 11:30 a.m. with Sean Boston (PBP) and Rob Dreher (color) calling the action. The game will be streamed live on the Blue Dragon Sports Network beginning at 11:30 a.m. with Countdown to Kickoff.

The Blue Dragons have already clinched a share of the 2025 Jayhawk Conference title after last Saturday's 49-7 victory at Highland. A victory on Saturday gives Hutchinson an outright 13th all-time conference championship, the sixth under head coach Drew Dallas. Last season the Blue Dragons, Coffeyville and Butler tied for the league title. Currently, Coffeyville has completed its league season with a 5-1 mark, the only blemish was a 31-0 loss to Hutchinson.

The outcome on Saturday will have implications to the seeding of the upcoming NJCAA Division I Football Playoffs. A Hutchinson win on Saturday should clinch the No. 1 seed and a home semifinal contest either December 5 or 6 at Gowans Stadium.

Last Saturday's win over Highland was the 13th-straight overall and 25th consecutive road victory for Hutchinson. The Blue Dragon defense was again stellar allowing only 110 total yards to the Scotties with 75 yards coming on one third-quarter scoring drive.

Offensively, the Dragons rushed for a season-high 253 yards with Kade Smith leading a plethora of Hutchinson ball carriers with 53 yards on seven carries and two touchdowns. Back-up quarterback Hudson Ferralez threw for one touchdown and rushed for another as the Blue Dragons raced out to a 30-0 lead at halftime against the Scotties.

Garden City lost an overtime heartbreaker last Saturday in Garden City, falling 23-17 to No. 10 Iowa Central. The Busters missed on a 37-yard field goal in its overtime possession and the Tritons scored a touchdown on their fifth play to secure the victory.

The Broncbusters are currently fourth in the KJCCC with a 3-2 league record.

Last season the Blue Dragons defeated the Broncbusters 42-17 at Broncbuster Stadium in Garden City to clinch its share of the 2024 conference title.
