HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Cosmosphere president and chief executive officer Jim Remar has been appointed to the board of the Giant Screen Cinema Association, an international organization with members representing filmmakers, distributors, and theaters from nearly 30 countries.
Remar joins staff members from the Ontario Science Centre, IMAX Melbourne and the Tennessee Aquarium, among others, as newly elected board members representing theaters.
Cosmosphere’s two-story Carey Digital Dome Theater features a 4K digital projection system that envelopes viewers in an immersive theater experience.
The Carey Digital Dome Theater presents several showings of educational documentaries during Cosmosphere’s regular hours, with popular feature films available on weekends.
“The GSCA is the group that oversees the large format film industry with over 260 members,” said Remar. “This is a great opportunity for the Cosmosphere to be engaged within the industry, but more importantly to play a leadership role.”
Remar’s term begins January 1, 2022 and will continue for two years.
