EL DORADO – The No. 12-ranked Hutchinson Community College women's soccer team played to its first draw of the 2025 season, tying the Butler Grizzlies 1-1 in a Jayhawk Conference battle on Wednesday at BG Product Veterans' Stadium.

The Blue Dragons are 5-1-1 overall and 2-1-1 (7 points) heading into Saturday's road conference battle at Garden City. Butler is now 3-5-3 overall and 2-2-1 in the KJCCC.

The teams scored just 1 minute, 43 seconds apart in the first half, then the game turned into a defensive battle.

The Blue Dragons scored first when Isabell Van Fleet got behind the Butler defense after taking a perfect Olivia Tamaki pass to score at the 8:53 mark of the opening half. Butler answered back 1:43 later when Darya Karabanko scored to tie the game at 1-1

Blue Dragon goalkeeper Evie Carvell (3-1-1) had four saves and allowed one goal. She had one huge save in the second half to keep the game tied at 1-1. Butler keeper Millie Robshaw-Charlesworth had three saves.

The Blue Dragons were out-shot 5-4. Each had had two corner kicks.

Van Fleet is now tied with Poppy Smith for the team lead in goals with six. Tamaki has a team-high seven assists.

The Blue Dragons are now 12-16-3 all-time against Butler.
