Elma Thompson, 102, passed away December 14, 2020, at her residence. She was born October 6, 1918, in Adams County near Golden, IL, to William Jacob and Naomi (Moss) Ketchum.
Elma graduated from Augusta High School, Augusta, IL, in 1936. In 1939, she moved to Hutchinson. Elma was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church and Altar Society, Hutchinson, and past member of the Loyal Star.
On July 17, 1940, Elma married George Thompson, in Lyons. They shared over 56 years of marriage, prior to his death on November 2, 1996.
She is survived by her children, Keith (Jackie) Thompson of Hutchinson, Mike (Denise) Thompson of Caldwell, ID, Pat (Patty) Thompson of Salina, Sharon Tinsley of Hutchinson, Lynne Miller of Hutchinson, and Raelene Brewer of Hutchinson; 19 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Nonia Gilbert; and special friend, Jane Miller.
Elma was preceded in death by her parents; husband; siblings, Goldie Haskins, Elsie Akins, Opal Meredith, Edith Young, Ruby Brown, and Edmund Ketchum; and son-in-law, William Miller.
Private Parish Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, December 17, 2020, at St. Teresa Catholic Church, Hutchinson, with Father Michael J. Maybrier officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 16, 2020, at Elliott Mortuary.
