HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A 47-year-old Hutchinson woman is in jail after she fled from law enforcement Wednesday night.

The Reno County Sheriff’s Office says Michelle Birkle fled from officers as they attempted to make a traffic stop.

The chase went down K-96 at speeds in excess of 100 mph where the Kansas Highway Patrol took over the chase. Birkle was eventually stopped at K-96 and the Ridge Road exit near Maize.

She was booked into the Reno County Correctional Facility on suspicion of flee and elude, driving while suspended, failure to appear in another case, and drug possession. Her bond is set at $7,250.

There were no injuries in the chase.
