MULVANE, Kan. — A six-run eighth put Tuesday's game on ice, as the Hutchinson Monarchs won 11-1 over the Mulvane Patriots on the road.
Alex Birge went three for six, homered and doubled and drove in two runs for Hutchinson.
Monarch pitchers held Mulvane to just five hits.
The Monarchs, now 23-6 and winners of six straight, go back for a return engagement in Mulvane Thursday. First pitch is at 7 p.m.
