KINGMAN, Kan. — The Kingman Fire Department is inviting the community to help celebrate a major milestone today.
The department marks 147 years of service, tracing its history back to its founding in 1879. To commemorate the occasion, firefighters are hosting an open house event this evening from 4 to 7 p.m. at the station.
Residents are encouraged to stop by to meet local firefighters, explore fire trucks up close, and learn more about the department’s work protecting the community.

The event is designed to give families a behind-the-scenes look at fire operations while also celebrating nearly a century and a half of service in Kingman.
Fire officials say the anniversary is not only a chance to reflect on the department’s long history, but also an opportunity to connect with the community they serve every day.
