KANSAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
The Kansas Department of Transportation plans to begin an emergency repair project on the SW 150 Avenue bridge over U.S. 54 east of Cunningham in Kingman County the week of April 13.
Crews will replace a beam that was damaged by a vehicle strike last fall. The bridge has been closed to traffic since that time.
Westbound U.S. 54 traffic will be reduced to one lane. KDOT will initially close the left westbound lane, and additional lane closures will be contingent on the portion of the bridge being worked on. Eastbound traffic will not be affected.
KDOT expects the work to be completed by the end of August, conditions permitting. Motorists are reminded to stay alert and follow posted signs in all work zones.
Bridges Inc., based in Newton, is the primary contractor for the project, which totals around $500,000. For current road conditions, visit kandrive.gov or call 511. For updates on construction projects in South Central Kansas, visit ksdot.gov/southcentralnews.
