HUTCHINSON, Kan.—The Hutchinson Monarchs put together a 12-spot in each game of a twinbill sweep of 316 Elite 18U last night (June 16) at Hobart Detter Field.

The Monarchs won the opening game 12-2 and took the second tilt 12-4.

After 316 Elite took an early 2-0 lead in the first matchup, the Monarchs tallied 12 unanswered runs to end the game after six innings.

The game's big hits were a two-run double by Ryan Henderson in the third inning and a bases-clearing double by Jimmy Blumberg in the fifth.

Alex Birge then put an exclamation point on the win with a two-run homer in the sixth inning.

Birge finished with three RBIs, with Henderson, Blumberg and Hunter Autrey each recording three hits at the plate.

Nate Adler fanned 10 hitters and allowed two runs over four innings to get the win in the first game for Hutchinson.

The nightcap was more of the same, except the Monarchs struck early with a run in the first and three more in the second.

It remained a 4-0 lead until Hutchinson exploded for eight runs in the sixth to put it away.

The Monarchs had thrice as much fun in the second game, as Lane Brewster had two triples and Jenner Steele, Sawyer Thornhill, Karson Coffee, Joey Baran and Jaxson Anderson each had one triple.

Brent Herrmann pitched the full seven innings, giving up four runs and striking out seven in picking up the victory for the Monarchs.
