

Herbert Edward “Herb” Richert, 96, died December 31, 2020, at his home in Buhler, KS. He was born December 13, 1924, in Glendale, CA, the son of Herbert C. and Mary (Unger) Richert.
He was a Jr. High math teacher in Reedley, CA for over 30 years and had a small family run fruit farm. He was a member of the Reedley Mennonite Brethren Church and upon moving to Buhler became a member of the Buhler Mennonite Brethren Church.
Herbert served in the United States Navy during World War II.
On July 29, 1948, he married LaVerne Richert in Reedley, CA. They shared 71 years of marriage. She preceded him in death.
Survivors include three children, Ed (Phyllis) Richert, Hillsboro, Tim (Judy) Richert, Buhler, and LuAnn (Ken) Adrian, Buhler; a brother, Francis Richert, Lane, KS; a sister, Margret Schmidt, Rogers, AR; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Private services with military honors will be held at Buhler East Cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021, at Buhler Mortuary. Family will not be present. Memorial contributions may be made to the Herbert C. Richert Scholarship Fund at Tabor College, sent in care of Buhler Mortuary, PO Box 589, Buhler, KS 67522.
