
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Voter turnout in Reno County’s 2025 general election remained low on Tuesday, with just over 18 percent of registered voters casting ballots. Final unofficial results were released by the Reno County Clerk’s Office, with the official canvass scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 12, at 9:30 a.m.
Out of 43,640 registered voters in the county, 7,879 ballots were cast, marking an 18.05 percent turnout.
Hutchinson City Council
In Hutchinson, voters selected representatives in three council races:
- Southwest District: Greg Fast won with 674 votes over Kaden Winters, who received 310.
- Northwest District: Stacy Goss secured the seat with 1,484 votes, defeating Devon Reese with 832.
- At-Large Position: Darrin Truan won the citywide contest with 3,132 votes over Carlton “Duke” Devaul, who received 1,892.
USD 308 School Board
Voters selected three candidates for the Hutchinson USD 308 Board of Education. The top vote-getters were:
- Laura Corey – 2,329
- Cheryl L. Thompson – 1,953
- Lindsey Hatfield - 1,834
Other candidates included Jeff Roberson (1,747), Gregory Scott Johnson (1,585), and Shontina R. Tipton (1,076).
However, the district’s proposed bond issue failed by a wide margin. Of 4,936 total votes, 1,253 were in favor, while 3,683 voted against.
Other School Districts
- USD 309, Position 1 (Unexpired Term): Jeremy Schmidt won with 388 votes over Stacy Watson (323).
- USD 312, Position 4: Nicole Sander led with 132 votes, followed by Gavin Tate (105) and Corey D. Brock (92).
City and Council Results
- Nickerson Mayor: Peggy Laura Reubke won with 120 votes over Trina Stum (41).
- Nickerson City Council (Vote for Three): Brad Berridge (93), Sarah Gilbert (92), and Angela Richard (83) secured seats.
- Buhler City Council (Vote for Two): Andrew Epp (106) and Michael L. Knopp (95) were elected.
- Haven City Council (Vote for Three): Clara Powers (84), Shelli Rettig (75), and Corey D. Brock (62) received the most support.
Sylvia and Turon
- Sylvia Mayor: Carolyn G. Conrad narrowly won over Dustin Pugh, 36 to 34.
- Sylvia City Council (Vote for Two): Douglas W. Hall (47) and Jonni Labs (32) were elected.

Election results will be finalized during the canvass on Nov. 12. Write-in votes, provisional ballots, and final totals will be confirmed at that time.
