RENO COUNTY, Kan. — Authorities have identified the man killed Friday in a crash involving a three-wheeled motorcycle and a van on U.S. Highway 50.
The Reno County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as William Duran of Gardner, Colorado.
Deputies were dispatched shortly before noon Friday to the intersection of U.S. 50 and Salem Road. They found Duran deceased near the motorcycle and a passenger van with rear-end damage in the westbound lanes.
A preliminary investigation indicates the van was stopped behind a westbound semitrailer that was preparing to turn south from U.S. 50. The motorcycle reportedly struck the rear of the van at a high rate of speed.
The van’s two occupants were treated at the scene and released.
