

Floyd C. Dodds, age 92, passed away on August 25, 2020 at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born in Abilene, Kansas on February 19, 1928 to his parents Rev. Clemit and Inez Dodds. During his growing up years, he attended schools in several places, but he spent his last two years at Haven High School and graduated there in 1947. He married Mary Stalcup in 1948 who passed away in 1994. He joined the United States Air Force in 1951 and served four years there until 1955.
Music was always a big part of Floyd’s life. He was a member of the Hutchinson Salt Miners Chorus for twelve years and sang in a barbershop quartet for two years. He sang in a gospel trio called, “Good News” for two years and also a gospel quartet called, “Glad Tidings” for three years.
He joined the Haven Baptist Church in 1955 and remained active there for sixty years, where he served as Church Deacon for most of those years. His other ministries at the church included teaching the junior boys Sunday School class, Sunday School superintendent, Church treasurer, as well as doing custodial work. His musical talent was used for most of these years as church choir director as well as being a soloist.
He married Gladys Stewart in 1995 and is survived by his wife. Other survivors are his two daughters, Linda (Martin) Morgan of Hutchinson, and Peggy Morgan of Wichita. His grandchildren are Jeremy (Linda) Morgan, Emily (Todd) Vesper, Rachel (Jon) Sawhook, Wesley (Miranda) Morgan and Audrey (Chris) Green. He has two step-children, Jon R. Stewart of Derby, and Sandra Stewart of Gardner and three step-grandchildren, Kellen (Ashley) Stewart, Micah (Mary) Reece, and Jeremiah Reece. There are 18 great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and three sisters, Lois Foust, Opal Clark and Vera Koontz.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, August 28, 2020 at Union Valley Bible Church, Hutchinson, with Pastor Steve Hodgson and Pastor Dean Flanner officiating.
